Barefoot runner Blake Johnston runs 100km of NSW South Coast for physical challenge

It all started when surf coach Blake Johnston cut his heel while surfing in Indonesia.

Wearing shoes was too painful, so he started recovering barefoot on the treadmill.

"In winter I came back [to Australia] and said, 'I'm not going to stop, I'll give it a crack and toughen up' and I started running barefoot," he said.

Who needs shoes when you're running 393 miles in 38 days?

Stoke City fan Chris Devine has completed his 15th marathon in 38 days – after running large parts of the epic challenge without shoes.

The fundraiser initially tried to finish all 15 of his scheduled 26.2-mile runs inside September.
