Heck with the Government Shutdown.Let Freedom’s Run ring.Join us in Shepherdstown, WV, forFreedom’s Run Festival Weekend this Friday and Saturday, October 11 and 12.

All events start and finish in Shepherdstown.

Our historic course tours Harper's Ferry, the C and O Canal, and the challenging hills of Antietam.With our government shutdown we are not caving to Congress and will run a scenic and challenging alternate route all in WV. See RW article and Journal Article.Thanks to all who allowed this to occur.

Some fun events this year include a World Premier Movie of “In the High Country” featuring filmmaker Joel Wolpert and one of the world’s best ultra runners, Anton Krupicka.Come meet Joel and Anton at our free movie event at the Shepherdstown Opera House.Some cool door prizes too.For more read here.
Also meet West Virginian Jamie Summerlin who just completed a run across America to honor the US Military.Jamie will speak Friday at the Pasta Dinner at Shepherd Wellness Center and at 4 and 7pm and at the Opera House at 5.Jamie will also be available to sign his new book titled Freedom Run. We will have our Pre-race Expo Friday from 12-8 at the Shepherd Wellness Center.Lots of local vendors and footwear to try on.Pasta Dinner will be on site at the Expo from 4-8.Race Director and National Speaker on Running and Health Dr. Mark Cucuzzella will also speak at the dinner at 5:30.

The 5th annual Freedom’s Run features a marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, and kids run. The courses are encased in country roads and preserved historic towns. Events start and finish in historic Shepherdstown, W.Va., and feature a post-race Oktoberfest party—and it’s only 60 miles from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.Alternate route is also a historical run for the senses.
The historical route and race organization has earned a "Top 25 Half Marathon" by Runner’s World Magazine in February 2013 and is the Highlight Race in October 2013 Runner’s World. Read the Runner's World piece.

We want youth to come out too for free kids one mile fun run.Also we have a code “Youth10” that runners 16 and under can use in the online registration for 10 dollars off entry for 5k, 10k, and half marathon events.

All proceeds from the event return to the community to support fitness trails at local schools and activities surrounding our history and heritage.
