  1. Why do you run?

I enjoy running because it makes me feel good. It kind of helps me unwind and process what's in my head. If I don't run I feel wound up.
  2. rookie, foot pain for 3 months

Hi Trynn, I wonder if you've got a stress fracture going on in there some where. I know you're not a big fan of the doctors but I think in your case it might be worth getting a scan done - especially if it swells up again. I hope you get to the bottom of it soon, it can very frustrating not...
  3. Toe problem

Thanks for the advice. I did what you recommended about concentrating on working my big toe. I kept making sure my 1st metatarsal head was doing the work. What also helped was the large piece of rubber I stuck to my invisible shoes about 2mm thick, with about 1mm of double sided tape (the thick...
  4. Toe problem

Thanks for the link, I tried small pad under my 1st metatarsal head yesterday but I think it was too small, a slight difference maybe. But after reading the morton's toe thread I'm going to try something with my invisible shoes to see if that works. It's a very good thread with loads of helpful...
  5. Toe problem

Thanks for the reply, the Morton's toe looks like it might be the problem. Anyone got any ideas how to stick a pad to the underneath of the 1st metatarsal head without it falling off (the pad, not the metatarsal head)?
  6. Toe problem

Hi Docs, I've been wearing minimalist shoes for running for nearly two years. About a year ago I started to get a numb 2nd toe on my right foot when running. The numbness starts to occur at about the 6-8km distance and steadily gets more uncomfortable until about 10-12km then I don't really...
  7. Xero Shoes

Hi, I've got a pair of do-it-yourself kit Xero shoes. I went for a run in them yesterday for the first time. I ran a quiet 5 km run as I've been recovering from a slight achillies problem (slight, because I don't want it to get worse) and it was good distance to try out the new shoes. Up until...
  8. Migraines...ugh!

I started getting less migraines when I started running. I still get one about every two weeks or so but it goes up to two or three a fortnight if I stop exercising. I recognise the warning signs and I'm able to take action early so normally they don't set in unless I leave the pain killers too...
  9. Hello!

The waiting for the walk sign is so true! We probably ditch our shoes more often than other Westerners but when it comes to barefoot running I haven't seen anyone running barefoot.
  10. Hello!

Not sure about that, most kids play and run around barefoot but that all ends when they hit their teenage years. There's no dangerous animals or insects so running around barefoot at the park or river is very common.
  11. Hello!

Hi, I have been running in VFFs for about 16 months. I really love running, I get a bit anxious if I haven't run for a few days. I don't run very far and am always battling the pressures of life with trying to get out for a run. Most of the time I get about 20 to 30km a week. I have run 4 half...
