    EcoVillages

I totally agree, thankfully it's very much not like a commune in the sense that people cannot just 'bunk there'. A lot of communes say "work for board" - they don't do that here, you live and work there, (and have to pay mortgage fees) or you don't. So it doesn't really appeal to the...

    EcoVillages

Thanks for posting the links Pirate. :) Most ecocommunities are not associated with any religion or even belief system, they're really just trying to make a self-sufficient community. I'm a SAHM, but hubby would still continue to work. Some ecovillages require rent if you want to stay there...

    EcoVillages

So hubby and I are looking into an self-sustaining ecovillage about 45 minutes away from us. It looks really interesting, but I don't know anyone else who does this, but I've already spoken to several people who live there, and will be taking a tour of it next month. Anyone else live/have...

What else do you do besides running?

I'm not a sporty person. Never have been, I have the body type that lends itself to sports, but I just am not competitive. So I do a lot of solo sports. - Running - Snowboarding - Swimming - Yoga Other hobbies - Gardening - Reading - Natural remedies - Spinning (not on a bike, but with an old...

Who should be our sperm donor?

Is there a reason the baby needs to be genetically connected? I have to say, it does sound a little weird to have her fathers sperm used..what if the donor came from your side of the family? So it'd be her egg, with your male relatives sperm in your uterus... if I've got this all sorted out...

    Show Us Your Ink!

For some reason the only one I could find is when it was new. :D Lilacs are my favourite flower, and they have other sentimental feelings attached to them. Peace, -Niffer

    The BFR Beginner

While I am a new BFer, I did start out by just being a general barefooter, before I tried to run. Hmm, I really didn't think that would be too strenuous. I wasn't that tired, which is why I kept running. Even at the end of my run, I didn't feel exhausted, just sore. What would be a better...

    The BFR Beginner

It turns out I really strained my calves and thighs. My run was not that long or hard (in my mind) but I guess I'm using muscles that aren't normally used, so the ache lasted for a good 3 days after my run. Are there are certain stretches I should be doing that are more helpful to BF runners...

    Discrimination

I am a little worried about going into establishments barefoot, and I can understand store policy rules, so I just plan on packing some super thin slip-ons. Though I have bought 'barefoot sandals' and at a glance, looks like you're wearing sandals..it's not until you look closer you realize...

    Barefoot = Poverty

Hm, I've only just started BFing, and I've already had "poor comments." I walked bf to church and back on Sunday, and some friends teased me about 'being so poor that I couldn't afford shoes.' I know it was all in good fun, but it did get my back up - if I decided to show up without a coat would...

    The BFR Beginner

I went on my first barefoot run yesterday - the trail was painful as it turns out is mostly loose gravel, but the pavement was lovely. As I'm also a beginner runner, I did the run a minute/walk a minute schedule, for about 25-30 minutes. My calves, thighs and glutes are very sore, but my feet...

Not Just for Running, Barefoot All The Time?

I've been doing a lot of just general walking barefoot, around town - and I was told that it was unhealthy because of chance of a cut becoming infected, and how pavement is just hard in general, for the soles of the feet, unlike grass or dirt. I like walking on pavement and haven't had issue...

    Proper skin maintenance

I use a rag and dish soap. Thats about it. I don't want to moisturize because I'm working really hard to toughen my skin, not keep it silky smooth. ;)
