    Race Reports From Mark Cucuzzella

In fairness, the extremely small and barely vocal minority on low carb is recent, usually adopted by folks who need a lifestyle change or control of blood sugar for health reasons. I've never heard of it not working. Here in the US, there's been a completely unfounded phobia of fats for like...

    Race Reports From Mark Cucuzzella

Curious about his diet. Is he doing a low carb diet for "fun" or out of medical necessity? Mentions insulin resistance in the Marine Corps Marathon post. Great reports though.

    Police Action

Some people get a feeling of self importance from position in life and the feeling of authority. That said, the cops I've run into said "oh like that guy on dual survival!" Sorry Diane had to deal with two losers in life (the phone in and the cop).

Dumb Podiatrist Again, But Smart Reporters and Yoga Instructor

Ssience for the win. Obviously we ask most doctors for their opinion, sometimes their opinion is rooted in scientific study, sometimes not.

    Should I abandon minimalist running?

Wonder what a chiropractor would say about leg length discrepancy... Actually I know what they'd say and I digress. Did the podiatrist actually measure your leg length? You said you injured your foot because of "ramping up too quickly"? What does this have to do with leg length discrepancy...

Barefoot runner wins Nautical Days 4 Mile Road Race

4 miles in 20:00 is pretty good with or with out shoes.

    Good-bye running.

Sorry to hear that. I've heard (not a doctor here) that they can do some surgery to get some marrow into the joint which will repair the meniscus, but it sounds like the doctors are giving you something similar or at least as beneficial. How do you think the degeneration started?

Kids and footwear in the gym... Gym daycare that is...

I dunno if we'll keep going, or know anything of their actual rules. My wife does the working out (I'm lucky aren't I :)) and I just stick to running these days because I don't have much time in the evenings and running is my favorite thing to do anyway. She seems to think they have to wear...

Kids and footwear in the gym... Gym daycare that is...

My thoughts exactly. My wife is less quick witted on the topic of barefeet for the kiddo. I kind of laughed when she said they were worried about tripping... I was wondering how shoes would prevent incidental contact with objects above the foot that impede normal forward motion and lead to the...

Kids and footwear in the gym... Gym daycare that is...

And by legitimate reasons, I'm looking for rebuttals... I can't really think of any real reasons unless they're playing on blacktop pavement at noon in Texas... And there are other reasons not to do that anyway.

Kids and footwear in the gym... Gym daycare that is...

So my beautiful 10-month old (and also the reason I don't post much) has started walking. My wife goes to the gym and normally drops her off at the gym daycare. Today they wouldn't admit her because she was barefoot and "could trip". What are the legitimate reasons a kid should have to wear...

    Treadmill Mindlessness Accident Spurs Warning

What if instead of making up reasons for rules against barefooting, we acknowledge that said reasons largely don't matter to shoe wearing people because they're wearing their "protective" shoe. Further, if you don't want me to use your treadmill because you can't comprehend that I am the most...
