I think that while some parts of the community address injuries there are also injuries that are inherent with barefoot running that just aren't there when running shod, even minimally. Not all the injuries are a result of too much too soon. I spent lots of time building up to distances and...

    Mileage Reporting 44th week 2013

8.4 miles of a planned 10 mile run before I started bleeding all over the place. Apparently your soles lose conditioning far quicker than I expected. It's been about a month since I've done a long barefoot run because I did my last few weeks of half training and the actual half in trail gloves...

Nike Women's Marathon (Half) race report

I'll try to get some uploaded... It's just a triangle with an X on it (for the 10th year) and a swoosh and imprinted on the other side says Nike Womens Marathon. I didn't get a firefighter picture because it was so congested at the finish line. Part of the area that they usually use for the...

    Mileage Reporting 42nd Week 2013

Ran the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco today. It's totally insane- I heard there were 35,000 runners. I ran it in 2:08 (unofficial) in Merrell Trail Gloves. I debated up until the last minute whether to wear shoes or not but since its started at 6:30 a.m. and I'm a cold wimp I put...

    Mileage Reporting 40th week 2013

15.75 miles today. I would have ran 16 if I had known I was that close but I paused MapMyRun at mile 5ish and it saved it so I wasn't sure where I was so when I got near my car I stopped. Ran part of the course for the half I have coming up in a couple of weeks and the hills are totally...

    Mileage Reporting 40th week 2013

6 miles today. The top of my right foot is a teensy bit achy from my long run... trying out a new running schedule this week. Instead of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday I'm just going to run Tue, Wed, Fri and Sun. I just can't run on Thursdays anymore because I have two classes...

    Mileage Reporting 38th week 2013

After an entire week off from my sprained knee, I'm back in the game. 3 miles today and no soreness afterwards- yay! I've been using one of those balance/wobble boards at the recommendation of my chiropractor (who is supportive of barefoot running!) to help with my balance for trail running so...

    Mileage Reporting 37th week 2013

Out for a few days, probably a week because of my knee. Going to the chiropractor tomorrow to figure out what exactly I injured. I've jogged from my car to my front door a couple of times to see how it feels and its not really that bad when running but it feels very weak.

I meant face pointed at the ground, not actually on the ground. But, yes, slowing down would help. This particular root was just a little guy set up to take people out. I was trying to be careful because of last weekend but he still got me.

Mileage Reporting 36er Week of 2013

10.3 miles this morning on a new trail. Wore Vibrams because it said there would be gravel but I probably could have done it bare. 5 miles up, 5 miles down... 1591 ft. elevation change. I definitely walked up some of climb. I also caught a root going downhill AGAIN and ate it AGAIN. Trail...

Mileage Reporting 36er Week of 2013

Oh, also my run was in my new Merrell Pace Gloves... They seem to be ok. Need to be broken in. It feels weird to run in shoes after running barefoot 98% of the time for the past two years. I think I'll probably reserve them for trail runs only, and try to get more of those in.
