    Stumptown Smackdown

I'm hoping not by me? (Though can see I may have come across that way, so thought I'd best check) Although, yes, I would class feet on cafe seats as bad manners within the context I'm familiar with, in the context of it being normal for people to do this in shoes taking them off is positively...

    Stumptown Smackdown

Comfy, yes. Feet on the couch, other than in my own home or that of close friends, generally no. And never, never in shoes!

    Stumptown Smackdown

Wow, cultural difference strikes again - I'm honestly shocked that it's seen as so acceptable to put your feet on coffee shop furniture. And people also do this in shoes? Uck! I may be tempted to sneakily do something like that in the UK on occasion (without shoes), but I would feel it was...

    Confession Time

I'm so disappointed, was expecting if you felt the need to confess something that it would be far more shocking and random.

    Any Grounding Experience?

You may have missed this bit of my post? :)

    Any Grounding Experience?

I'm certainly still sceptical about the grounding thing, but this I agree with completely - if it's working, and has no harmful side effects, then is the how & why that important? (Obviously that logic only applies to individuals, I'm not suggesting drug companies adopt it.)

    Heels for healing Achilles tendinitis

I grab heels to give the achilles area rest if I have tightness/soreness and it's worked well for me as a quick fix. (To be clear, this is based solely on my thinking, not medical evidence)

    Stretching..Who Does and Who Doesn't?

I admit I've skimmed, so apologies if this has already been said. I do do a tiny bit of post run stretching (I touch the ground with my fingertips & then move down into a squat - yup, that's it), but when do I mainly stretch? Well, when I feel I need it. I'll happily go days without, but...

Josh McDougal is a Perfect Example of What is Wrong With High School Track

That's 'cos the rest of us nose breathers appointed him our spokesperson & then shut our mouths ;) Seriously though, I do find it hard to nose breathe when running but am working on it, primarily because it's made such a difference to my normal breathing. I followed Buyteko for asthma & did...

    mobility wod

Hmmm. Thanks, I think. Got suspicious watching one of the vids that the painful tightness on the inner back of my ankle after longer runs may be from a problem kind of diagonally opposite. The foot pain the morning after rolling that point on my ankle makes me guess it was causing a hidden...

    Beginners cadence questions

Mine could possible still do with being higher, but it's a long, long way from where it was! I know some people find it quite easy as they already run with fairly high cadence before the shoes come off - I was not one of those people! There was no way I could have just instantly got it to 180...

Diabetic barefoot ultra (or not) minimalist etc running thread

Just picked up a copy of Trail Running magazine & there's a short piece about a guy who was diagnosed with Type 1 at 43 & has just done the 190 miles of Wainwright's coast to coast (not minimalist, but thought you may still be interested).

    Um, wow.....

Hmmm, so having run in heels (as in running for a train, not going out for a run!) I know it only takes the tiniest thing to throw your landing off & you have to be prepared to compensate at every step if you want to stay upright - looks to me like these would have that problem x16!

    GlASS! eeeek!

Aww, poor Jax! My old bare pawed running companion also fell prey to glass, way before I'd started barefooting. They heal pretty quick, but if Jax is anything like Shad was then be warned, it's not ready to run on until a couple of days after he says so!

    My small rant...

Indeed, I wouldn't tend to go around calling strangers crazy in any language. It'll just make a nice, & possibly more accurate, substitute for "Je suis Anglaise", which is my usual excuse for any slightly odd behaviour!

    My small rant...

I like that word. I can definitely see myself using it on future trips to France! (Most probably about myself)

    My small rant...

Weirdo is definitely an English word, what's fu?

Tired of hearing "You are going to pick up some disease"

Didn't expect something that good when I clicked on your link! Wow. Mary - am still snickering at the stick comment - Nooooooooooooo! Not a stick!

    Chinese footbinding.

Fascinating to see pictures, thank goodness it's now banned. Nick - if the pics have that affect, trust me, never read personal descriptions of the process, sometimes words can be more graphic than photos.

They probably figured this was more believable: http://www.thebeerbelly.com/Beerbelly_p/200-001.htm
