    Sneaking out of the hotel

VFFs in my pockets are not uncomfortable. I have Bikilas, though, so they're pretty flexible and light.

    Headphones

I have PMX's by Sennheiser. They stay put, and I have worn them in a downpour several times with no ill effects. I can vouch for them.

    Migraines...ugh!

Ouch, I feel for you! Managed to crack the barrier last week...my normal loop is 13.5km, came in about 4:57/km. Very tired but happy. :joyful:

    People's reactions when you run

This morning I had an odd experience...my local park has a running track that is becoming glass-littered because of drunken louts partying there at night, so this morning I decided to run in VFFs to just have a carefree run rather than mincing my way through the splinters. I have very...

    Migraines...ugh!

So, it's been several test runs now and it seems like it was the recovery shake, that's the only thing I changed and so far no migraines. Now I eat real food instead (a sandwich mostly). Just FYI.

    Migraines...ugh!

Well, I don't think it's a pinched nerve...they run in the family, my dad, all my uncles and my brothers, we all get 'em. Generally there is a food or light trigger, though in this case hard exercise seems to be a stressor. The local pharmacist has warned me away from energy drinks, so I'll try...

    Migraines...ugh!

Hi folks! I'm knocking on the door of sub 5min/km on my standard 13.5km run, so I've been pushing it a bit harder to break the barrier :). However I have been triggering migraines in the process, generally about 2-3 hours afterwards. I have a history of migraines and they run in the family...

    People's reactions when you run

On the Gun Run 1/2 last Sunday I had at least 4 club runners tell me "Respect" on the way past. That felt pretty good.

    Gun Run 21.1km tomorrow

Nope, not a one, actually, and no minshoes either. But I started quite a few conversations in my wake and had a lot of folks interested this year. Last year was MUCH quieter ... not a lot of interest at all, so at least the consciousness is growing.

    Gun Run 21.1km tomorrow

We are the Rainbow Nation :) . I managed a 2:00'35" , which I'm pretty happy with. No RaceTec results yet, so we'll see what the chip says in a few days, but that was the event clock at the finish. I was shooting to crack 2 hours, but there were 7000 entrants and I started quite far back in...

    Gun Run 21.1km tomorrow

I'm nursing the remnants of a deep tissue blister from heat on Tuesday, but have decided to die-hard it. The weather will be cool - 8-12 deg C over the course of my run, and no rain - perfect. My toes at least are ready - South African Flag Colors :).

    Transitioning from shoes to fivefingers

Hi, and welcome! It looks like you know how to listen to your body, so do that first and always. I would go barefoot - completely barefoot - as much as possible starting immediately. Ditch the Fingers except for running and bad surface walking and build the barefoot awareness in your feet...

Is There Such a Thing as Perfect Form?

Of course there is perfect form - I have it. For a few steps out of thousands every week :).

    3000 barefoot miles.

    AWESOME! Well done :).

Hmmm...maybe something a bit more robust like duct tape?

Epic is: cracking an 18km PB in a hailstorm

Like it says...biggest storm of the year and I knocked almost 12 sec/km off my pace...5:46/km over 18km. I'm going through some big personal stress which, it turns out, is great fuel for running.

    People's reactions when you run

I was running in VFFs yesterday, tending a blister, and a woman out walking quipped: " Well it's good to see you with SOME kind of cover on your feet." I've clearly perturbed her in the past :).

    Blister aggravation

And 12km at easy pace barefoot yesterday as well. I'll wear VFFs for the long run tomorrow, though.

    Blister aggravation

Well, for anyone following VFFs are AOK over 12km...doesn't seem to have done any harm. Whew!

    Blister aggravation

Hi docs, I have a blister which is plaguing me: It doesn't hurt at all. The initial injury was as the result of a speed run over bad terrain and I let it heal about a week or so. It has been OK for about a week of running now, but this morning after just 7km at slow pace it...
