    A few months ago I became a semi-vegetarian - eat some seafood, eggs, dairy- after many failed attempts. I too love meat and it was hard at first to give it up.

    TJ, My heart goes out to you. Have you tried Nortriptyline or Cymbalta? They are drugs used for pain disorders as well as depression. You don't have to have depression for them to work for pain. They help turn down the pain signals to the brain. I don't think inflammation is the issue here...

    I've done that several times since starting barefoot running a year ago. It tends to happen when I get tired or sloppy.

    "God bless you!" "You're going to get plantar fasciitis!" Most people just stare and widen their eyes. I don't like being noticed. I wish there were more barefoot runners.

    I have to admit that I feel annoyance at the marketing of "barefoot" gear. Part of the allure of barefoot running is that it's there is no purchase necessary.

    Midfoot vs Forefoot Landing

    I went from mid-foot to forefoot and now back to mid-foot. I'm prone to medial tibial stress syndrome and forefoot striking caused more strain. If I can get my lower leg sturdy enough though I'll probably try forefoot again.

    Any suggestions on how to keep your soles tough through the winter? Live in Rhode Island and like to be 100% barefoot but not keen on extreme cold.

    Since your height comes up Since your height comes up from your heel, I don't think a higher arch can make you taller. Too bad:< I could use the height too. As far as my flat feet go, I do believe I have more of an arch and a meatier foot. Barefoot Bess
