What qualifications should someone have in order to become a barefoot running instructor?

Hey all...been away from BRS Hey all...been away from BRS for a bit (finishing an MA which has been very time consuming...) Anyway, this is a great thread/idea... I think there are a couple of avenues that coaches can take to become great. And I do not think that either one is necessarily...

My significant other is a shod runner.

I am just happy as can be I am just happy as can be that my wife runs at all! She seems to enjoy the same mental/mood/physical benefits that I so enjoy and even though we rarely run together, we both feel like it is something we share. I told her to give BF a try shortly after I started and got...

    mixed feelings about huaraches

I'm definitely no expert, but I'm definitely no expert, but I did order the kit from IS and made my own. Easy-breezy. I used scissors, a gouging tool with a sharp point, and a baseball glove lacing tool to get the laces through the holes - which were very small. Mine do not look "nice" by any...

HAHA... Not yet... I don't HAHA... Not yet... I don't know what they are really called, I've always called them "goat-heads"... Nasty little stickers that have at least 2 or 3 spikes just waiting to tear up whatever comes across their path - bike tires, feet, etc. Very strong and sturdy, and...

    Surveying your route

My distances are just getting My distances are just getting to the point where I am venturing out of my neighborhood, so I started carrying VFFs with me, just in case. I have yet to use them, but it is nice to have them. I also started carrying tweezers and super-glue after a run-in with a...

    Evil shoes the culprit??

Thanks for the responses. I Thanks for the responses. I initially wrote it off to a form issue, specifically the bending of knees, but then I really focused on that and they still tightened. I thought maybe I was not running relaxed, so I tried focusing on that as well. I also thought maybe it...

    Evil shoes the culprit??

I would say it is mid-calf, I would say it is mid-calf, and mostly on the sides of the leg rather than directly in the back or meat of the calf. I don't know. I wear VFFs or go BF as much as possible, but I have to wear shoes at work. I am switching career paths soon, so the shoes won't be an...

    Evil shoes the culprit??

Hey all... Just wondering what you guys think. Everything has been going well with the running. I was up to 4 miles for a "long" run, running about 3 or 4 times a week, and all was well. I was even adding in a back to back run, though the day two run was very short, but everything was clicking...

    Stretching?

I think stretching should I think stretching should probably be along the same lines as running BF. If your body needs a stretch - stretch it. If you are stretching and it hurts (and not in a good way), then stop. I stretch here and there, but not a routine. Sometimes after my run, sometimes...

    Are VFFs "fashionable"?

I'm a little embarrassed to I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, but I like 'em. Plus, the more people that wear VFF styled stuff, the less weird BF becomes, I think.
