  1. Xero Shoes Review -- Alpine

So - How do these handle a Minnesota Winter? Been debating on a pair, but haven't seen how they handle the harsh cold, the damp as things melt, and of course, the ice and hard snow....
  2. Anya's "Barefoot Shoe Try-On Event"?

Looks like Anya's reviews is doing a "shoe try on event" near me in early May, and I'm just wondering of anyone's been to one of these before, and what to expect. At this point, due to my very wide feet (9 EEEE in "conventional sizing"), I'm very limited in options in general, even in "normal"...
  3. Mileage Reporting Week 50 ( Dec.12 to Dec. 18 )

Missed logging yesterday, so here's from from Monday and Tuesday: Monday - indoor track at YMCA: 2.29mi in 26:36 ~ avg 11:35/mile pace. Tuesday - indoor track at YMCA: 2.06mi in 21:31 ~ avg 10:27/mile pace. Tough to want to run much more than that where there's a lot of sanding dust in the air...
  4. Mileage Reporting Week 49 ( Dec.05 to Dec. 11 )

Pleasantly surprising jump in distance/endurance today: 3.3miles in 37:03 on the indoor track.
  5. Mileage Reporting Week 49 ( Dec.05 to Dec. 11 )

Trying to get back at it again after an all-too-long hiatius due to a few Job changes and COVID really screwing with my running motivation and schedule. So hopefully sharing my mileage here will help keep me much more motivated... 2.03 miles, 22:09, indoor track at the local YMCA. Can...
  6. Planet Fitness

After my recent (positive) experience at my local YMCA, I would suggest taking a moment and speaking directly with the manager (not any of the trainers) about using the treadmills barefoot. The first place I went to was ok with it ONLY on the treadmills (needed to wear shoes everywhere else in...
  7. Planet Fitness

Funny you should mention that - just got exactly this from the wellness director at the local YMCA my wife and I just joined Reached out, had a quick discussion, and she sent me an email with the statement that she's authorizing my running on the track barefoot. So yes, I got that in writing :)...
  8. Planet Fitness

For some things, yes. For things where my money is involved (like monthly dues that are non-refundable if *I* violate the terms of service), I much prefer to ask first. The level of resistance and/or cooperation helps give me a better picture of what I can expect going forward.
  9. Planet Fitness

It's actually quite common unfortunately. I just joined a local YMCA with an indoor track, and am waiting to hear back from the manager about being able to use the track (only) barefoot.... I'm not hopeful :(
  10. Woman Sparks Debate After Walking Into Home Depot Barefoot

Interesting - that sign also says "No Dogs" and I pretty consistently see people bring their dogs with them into Home Depot. I don't remember seeing any form of that "No barefoot, no smoking, no dogs, etc" signage at any Home Depot I've been in. Makes me wonder where this is, or if it's a...
  11. FUNDRAISER TIME! The Site Is In Major Need Of Your Immediate Help!

Been away for a good while longer than I planned, but just added a small donation to the fund. TJ, you do great work here and provide an immensely valuable resource.
  12. We'll get through this

Wish I could say the same... 8+ hours sitting at my desk in a <65 degree basement, and my feet get really cold.. :cold: That being said, I did manage to get out for my first BF run of the season yesterday, and already feel a little less stressed than I did this time yesterday.
  13. Barefoot on Treadmills?

I've had similar experiences, especially when running for more than 15-20 minutes. Only thing I've found that helps is to have a big air circulator type fan aimed down at the belt - not often appreciated by others who were just enjoying the air circulation.. My big problem with running on...
