IBRD

The day/concept you mean?
I kind of like it, we got positive local publicity last year thanks to Smelf and Starbase

What's circumvented? Should we just call it "Revert back to normal day"?

Seriously? DON'T even go there!

Adam, are you just wanting to start crap lately, to stand out or be different? Are you just trying to be "our controversial barefoot runner?" (I guess every forum needs one.) Or is something going on with you? What gives with the attitude lately?

I once told you I thought you were a good barefoot running ambassador. You told me I was wrong. I now see you were right.

Oh, and is this why Connecticut didn't have an IBRD? Nice.

Gentile,
I'm inclined to think it might just be you.

At the event I attended in Germany today, we had 15 people*, only about 5 of which were barefoot regulars. The others were keenly interested in Meckie's workshop. 4 of the attendees were kids, who had a blast even though it was about 50 degrees and raining. We all had a great time.

If you have a better idea for reaching out and having some fun with other BFRs, I am all ears.

Cheers
Paleo

* And this was only 1 of 3 events in Germany. Last year, we had just 1 event here, which was attended by 2 barefooters, one shod sympathizer, and a dog.

In Slovenia (a country with only a bit more than half Connecticut's population), they gathered 120 people today, thus doubling their 60 attendees from last year.

Reactions: Rollback
Well, a couple of years ago I went to the doctor for what I thought were warts on my soles. She took one look and said they were corns and my shoes were too narrow. After wider shoes and then going BF a lot, no more corns. NO MORE CORNS. Therefore, IBRD is not corny at all for me.

What don't you get? I understand you attend barefoot running event(s). What is so different about this and those?

To me it's pretty simple and can be low key or not.
I enjoyed my first International Barefoot Running Day event yesterday afternoon, with 3 of us getting together for a run near Valley Forge National Park. It was my first time getting to run with other BF runners in PA. I was very happy. So what do you find corny about it BF Gentile?
I look at some of the really crazy sh*t (think politics and religion in general) people get all worked up over and think that BFR is at least harmless and perhaps small footsteps in a better direction.
But, hey, you're entitled to your opinion, and you, TJ, might take a deep breath or two.

Whew! Yes, Jamie and I, and all the many event organizers (40+) are glad that another, successful IBRD has passed. sigh. It's a lot of work and so very well worth it. We look forward to the 3rd International Barefoot Running Day next May!

Perhaps a bit Adam. I'm not much of a joiner, and I don't like running with a lot of people, and my schedule's generally too busy to add to, but I was ready to take the plunge and participate, even had my IBRD shirt, and then it got canceled due to potential thunderstorms. Oh well. I drank a bottle of wine with a t-bone lunch and had a four-hour nap instead. Maybe next year . . .

See - it's stories like this that warms the cockles of the heart as they speak towards the sheer, raw fortitude of BFR's...facing severe weather, did Bare shy away from the challenge? No - he drank a bottle of wine, ate a steak and took a nap...that, my friends, is why this country is great! Way to overcome adversity and make the best of the situation - you did so with style and verve...my hat's off to you.. :D
