What else do you do besides running?

I fish for shad in the spring and stripers from the beach in the fall. I keep vegetable gardens. For contact/strategy sport I manage a wife, 3 kids (6, 10 and 12 years old) and a girlfriend.

For me running is more like a meditation and body care time than competition related. The only competetiveness I feel is within myself. I don't mind winning AG medals, though.

I haven't run much lately but keeping myself busy rowing, whole body resistance trainning, TRX trainning and I'll be dusting my bike of very soon here to bike to work.

I did martial arts for about 12 years (1 year karate, 1 year judo, 4 years taekwon-do, 6 years taido).. Then I started working and running replaced that..

Nowadays I combine trail running and bicycling to and from work (~30km/day), which happens to be farming, which includeds various physical activities, like today I hammered some big rocks.. I also do orienteering. And some recreational running and will probably start swimming at some point. And perhaps I could do some fitness boxing at winter, after orienteering season ends..

PilotRunner, You just have to pick a better wife. Mine's easy to get along with in regard to the GF. She has one, too. And no,we don't share or swap. That would be too confusing for the kids.

Im starting to wonder if you guys are a bad influence........:p

Do you have your own rowing machine, Ms. Dama?

Swimming, yoga, mountain biking, indoor rock wall climbing, weightlifting. Next winter I will add cross country skiing. I am not great at any one thing, I just like to be out and active.

No I don't TJ but the fieldhouse has all kinds of equipment for us to use--sweet!

Board, I know, it just doesn't sound right-right?

Silly, unfortunately, no, not everything is all right I migh have to have foot surgery here very soon-it sucks.
I have what you call a very large exostesis(?) on top of my left foot that it has being very painful lately so that needs to go.
I have a Dr appointment next Tuesday to set up a surgey day.
Life is cruel sometimes.

I can totally sympathize with you about the foot surgery, Dama. I'm sure you will heal just fine. Did they say what caused it?

TJ, if you're thinking about rowing, I think it would be good for you while you work through your recovery. I got a used Concept II rower last fall, and although rowing's boring without the water, I've found it to be a good way to get in some aerobic exercise on my running rest days. I did get a little tendonitis in my left elbow however. That was cleared up when I adapted the handles to 'neutral' position (palms perpendicular rather than parallel to the ground). Concept IIs are a little spendy, but they retain their value better than most exercise equipment.
