Jen, I've cut down to 2 cups of coffee a day and no soda as well. I've been on prilosec for like 3-4 years. Need to get off that. Not good to be on that stuff for so long.

Yeah, I used to be on Zantac, and I was able to stop taking it when I dumped the dairy and deep fried food. I usually drink no more than 2 cups of coffee a day too.

Yea, I hear that before about coffee been beneficial in so many ways.

Talking about giving up coffee is just, well crazy talk.

I'm a morning runner, because I'm usually too tired when I get home from class/studio (art school). And I want to spend time with my fiancee Stephanie. (yes I'm a lesbian) I'm a semi-vegan (eat seafood), so my breakfast is usually oatmeal with almond milk, a piece of fruit, and juice. I can usually do my 10 miles w/o much troubles. I usually don't "drop a deuce" until bedtime. Weekends however, I usually have an egg-white omelette with veggies and soy cheese and tea. This usually is enough for my system to get going. Afterwards, I eat as usual, have another bm at nite.

This is a timely and pertinant topic for those of us who favor peristalsis. I usually don't think twice about the eating / poo cycle because I get up so early most days I have already eaten and evacuated before it's light enough to think of running. A nice big pot of poridge with fruit and chia, some coconut or almond milk and a dollop of whole fat yogurt is my morning magic potion. Washed down with some high test Starbucks...I'm ready to "go" within the hour after that.

My one negative experience was the day of my first and only half marathon last year when I was caught by suprise about a half hour before the race and NEEDED a loo. Fortunately, GF's mother's house was only a block away. Whew! (And yes, I admit it, I'm a heterosexual...with a wife and a GF. If she can have one, so can I!)

It's funny, I can be in an active bout of diarrhea and, if I run, it just all shuts down. I can have to go before a race and as soon as I start running, it all just stops. This thread makes me feel very blessed! I want to say a point about the fasting because I have had the same experience. I only eat once a day. The body does become conditioned to expecting food - if you deprive it, it can adjust to a very different schedule. There is a successful master's runner who eats like this. It's exceedingly convenient, especially for runners who need to "fit in" runs here and there.
