I know. My hubby's one. He thinks very little.

Chinese Chestnut husks.  They

Chinese Chestnut husks. They have spines like sea urchins, only moreso.

Multiflora Rose thorns. They punched through the thick part of the sole of my VFF Bikila.

None of the aforementioned squishy stuff bothers me for more than a few steps, generally. I do try to leave the really nasty bits outside, though.

Some kind of orange toad on

Some kind of orange toad on an island in the Pacific. They make a cool popping sound and feel kind of like mud between your toes. They were everywhere.

Pilots ARE jerks. But I

Pilots ARE jerks. But I digress. I almost stepped on a scorpion last week. Other than that, just glass and sharp rocks. Pretty lame. I see dead animals and think of Chaser and how he enjoys stepping in their innards, but I go around.

That's my expression for

That's my expression for stone chips that get stuck to the bottom of your feet and travel with you until you have to stop and remove it. With a fresh coat of wet asphalt, every stone chip regardless of size becomes a hitchhiking chip.

Oh, okay, that sounds better

Oh, okay, that sounds better than what I was thinking it was. ;-)

Worst thing I've stepped on

Worst thing I've stepped on was today actually. Funny, it was just a little sharp pebble. Frequently on my runs little pebble like things get stuck to the bottom of my foot and I can usually get it off by kind of scuffing my foot as I run but occasionally one sticks and will not come off and I have to stop and brush the bottom of my foot to dislodge it. Didn't realize it at first, I brushed it off and kept going but my finger felt kind of sticky afterwards, didn't look at my fingers though until half mile later or so, I caught a glimpse of my fingers and it was blood! Cleaned my heel up after getting home and saw the little cut. I barely felt it. Hopefully that is the worst of it! ;) Someone mentioned stepping on bees, I think its the change of the season right now, I'm seeing a lot of bees in the ground so I've been careful to avoid them, that would suck because I also remember being stung as a child and it wasn't fun.

Well, this isn't the worst

Well, this isn't the worst thing I've ever stepped on but it hurt like hell. Near the end of yesterdays run my sons stroller caught a thick stick with a tire and kicked it under the arch of my foot right as I was stepping down. Nice big bruise across my arch now...

Running on an old wood wharf

Running on an old wood wharf with my cousin. I tried to stop quickly and drove a pencil sized piece of wood under almost the whole length of my heel pad. The doctor pulled it out with pliers, I had to hold on to the table to keep him from pulling me off of it.

on my run today i stepped on

on my run today i stepped on a piece of glass. felt like a rock was stuck to my foot only i couldn't see anything but dirt on my sole. i had a harder time walking to cool off then i did running. i got it out pretty easily. it was about a millimeter big. just thought everyone needed to know.
