Great achievement! And you're fast.

I also ran my first half marathon distance on Saturday, and it took me 2h24min. And I was wearing my huaraches.

Were running a race or just by yourself?

Wow, Toad! That's a testiment to barefoot is faster if I ever heard one. (Not that I believe that sort of thing though. ;-) ) Congrats!

Congrats to you too, Sloutre! My fastest barefoot half was 2:22. I consider myself a turtle, so that one was rather fast for my little turtle legs. It might have been because the ground was freezing cold! The air temp was 33-34 that day. But I was running with Mokie, and he runs a 6:00 minute mile. He's nice to stay back and "skip" with me while I gasp for air.

Did you use any sort of training program to work up to the half, like Hal Higdon's? I aspire to a half!

Na, didnt do any training so to speak of, just kept increasing, i started working from a couple 5ks end of last year, worked up to a 10k this year, then one day tried to up it and run to the closest store near our house (kind of live out in the middle of nowhere) which was round trip 11 miles. With the help of a friend, i made it up to 13. I think it was the motivation of showing other runners at work that it can be done that did it.
