Hello!

When I was a kid I hated sports. Actually, I was very bad at them and I still am whenever a ball is involved —big or small. And one of the things a specially hated was running. That's how it was until a couple of years ago when my body started to send me some signs that I should start moving. Like "come on, mate, do something." And what's the kind of activity when work and family takes most of your time? Running, just because it has no schedule and it's very cheap. Whenever you find a couple of hours for yourself —no matter if it's in the morning or in the evening— the only you have to do is put on you trainers (haha, trainers XD ) and leave through the door.

So... I always liked to walk barefoot and most of my shoes were of the zero-drop kind. Having read about barefooting and minimalistic shoes, I decided that if I was to start running I was going to do it my way, so one day I stepped on my pair of VFF and got into work. First 1 km, then 2, 3...
At the end of 2015 I could run 5 km at a steady pace of 5:40 min/km, with an absolute record of 5:11 min/km in a 5k race. I had achieved my resolution for 2015: running faster than in 2014 —when I started running.

For 2016 I looked for a diferent deal: not faster but longer runs, increasing the distance to 10 km. And also, I was resoluted to fully transitioning to barefoot running. I had tried it before, but never really dared to go for a long end-to-end barefoot run. Guess what? I achieved my goal on the first week of 2016, so what now? Well, now it's a matter of improving and getting better.

The point is that I have never felt better, and I believe that taking my shoes of has been a great idea.

Cheers!

Transition? What do you mean transition?

Hi TJ!
Actually, I already tried, but I can't find the "join group" as described in other threads. When I go to the chapters page there's no visible button to join a group, nor can one be found inside the group.
Am I missing something?

Looks like you figured it out.

Yeah, indeed! But it worked in a very different way from what I expected. I had to go to the members section of the chapter, then send myself an invite, then accept my own invite.
Is this how it's supposed to work?
No. We just upgrade the site. I will look into it. Thanks for the heads up.

Run free, my friend.

The point is that I have never felt better, and I believe that taking my shoes off has been a great idea.

Please share your experiences via the blog site. I am eager to here more.

Congratulations on your achievements, I am impressed and jealous.

Actually, I need to look for some free space in my agenda so I can log my impressions :p
Also, don't be jealous. I admit I'm proud of myself, but it's nothing that special. If I could do it with one slightly shorter leg and an overpronating right foot, then almost eveyone can do it, too.
