Mileage week ending 10-17

TJ - I have to admit that you

TJ - I have to admit that you inspired me! I remember seeing the pictures of you receiving an award for it last year, and I realized that I needed to start keeping track of my mileage. I never had before, and it made me really inconsistent. I would do things like not run for a week and not even notice.

Well, thank you, Silly.  It's

Well, thank you, Silly. It's good to know that I can inspire others. Angie is running her first barefoot marathon shortly, and she told me yesterday that I had inspired her as well. Makes me feel good.

Too bad this year was a pretty bad year for me. After the cryosurgery for MN (directly caused by shoes), I developed a severe case of PF from walking on my heels for 3-1/2 months afterwards to avoid putting pressure on the balls of my feet and lessen the pain there. Then it just continued to get worse. Doc emailed me back today, and he thinks that perhaps I've ruptured the plantar fascia (in both feet?!). It can take months to years to heal from this injury, and then you are susceptible to PF ruptures in the future as well. I am going to schedule an appointment on Monday to "demand" an MRI. I pray it's not a rupture; if it is, then my running life may be over.

TJ, one year off to rest

TJ, one year off to rest those feet up will soon be all in the past when you start your first of many great running years to come:) You are definitely an inspiration, you're like a founding Mother here!

Thanks, you guys.

Zum, tell us about your meetup. Do you have a report? Will you add something to the BRS Minnesota page and FB page/s? Did you get any pictures? It would be nice to have a Meetup Feature for our news show, but some of us are slow to start and just need a good barefoot kick in the ass to get going. Hee. Yours could be he first Meetup Feature. ;-)

I finally got to run. 4.34

I finally got to run. 4.34 miles because I had to get home for first pitch. I ran to the running store to buy some Injinji socks. It felt good to run but I could feel the struggle after sitting on my butt all week nursing my toe (worst injury risk ever). My hip hurts and I could feel my pelvis was unstable during the run. And I felt breathless - the meds took their toll (still on antibiotics). We'll see what happens tomorrow... Planned to do a 10 miler tomorrow but I might need more recuperation. I have a race next Saturday. My quads wanted to go 5 more miles, though - itch is still there.

One would think they would be

One would think they would be sore after an 8 mile run, but my legs / feet are less sore now than before today's [BRS Minnesota] run... :O They initially became sore 4 days ago when I ran around Elm Creek Park for 4 miles roundtrip total...

Fun day! Looking forward to the next & seeing everyone again. :}

I'll talk to SP, he's the report guy...he's more thorough at a write up than I am:p There were 8 of us total, 6 of us did 8mi and the other two did about 6.5-7mi I believe. Weather was perfect, mid 60s slightly windy, we ran a bike path 'along' the Cannon River and recovered with treats from DQ. We had a local tv production student there as well, getting footage (pun intended), interviews etc. She'll be likely putting it up on our facebook page when it's available and youtube. I'll team up with SP for a nice Meetup Report for you TJ, we'd be thrilled to be the first:) This is our 4th meetup so far, we started with just the two of us at the first meetup, now we're 8!

I think David and Lyle got pictures, we'll get those posted as soon as we get out hands on them...ehem guys?

I LOVE IT!  YOU GUYS MAKE ME

I LOVE IT! YOU GUYS MAKE ME SO HAPPY!

Who's who?

Lyle (laxisusous), Leanne and Dave Gunderson aka Gundy, tall dude in back would be my partner in crime Christian (saypay), next to him is Justin (skyalmian), myself in the sleeves, Mary (found us through a local newpaper write up on the McDougall visit to the metro) and Dave (dpollit).

Who is that tall dude in the

Who is that tall dude in the back! Geez, SP. How tall are you? How tall are you, Zum? I'm only 5' 4", so I'm sure you could block the sun out for me!

And who took the picture?

Great group shot!  WTG,

Great group shot! WTG, Minnesota barefoot runners!

Can I tell you how much it cracks me up that some of our most eventful chapters are in cold places?

43.5 miles for me this week. In addition to hitting 1000 this week, I topped 100 miles already for the month. I am so tired. My taper starts tomorrow, and I hope I feel a bit more energetic on race day (Nov 6th). I got through my 22 miler today without any problems, but I had to call my husband at mile 21 to let him know that I was going to be home later than planned because I was lost. I was kinda whiney.

I got 21 running miles in

I got 21 running miles in last week :-D...first time breaking through 20 miles in a week since June!!! YAY ME!!!

Ok, left to right...Lyle

Jill Zimmerman (our local tv production student) kindly took the group shot for us. I'll kick SP in the rear to get a write up on our Chapter page and let you know when it's up TJ

NIce mileage Silly and Cube! Silly, we're making building a strong community here in MN...hoping the more runners we have in the cold winter mos...the more we'll all be able to keep each other warm.
