If you run exclusively barefoot and learned that for some reason you could never run barefoot again, would you run shod or give up running altogether?

I didn't vote since I can't answer one way or the other definitively.

For me, it would really depend on the reason. Let's say I had to start taking Warfarin (blood thinner) due to a DVT episode from all my flying. Then I would wear a pair of minimalist shoes to protect myself from getting cut and bleeding to death on a run. If it was more due to structural (bone, muscle, tendon, etc), then I would probably give up running and switch to biking.

This is hard to answer. Ever since the transition to barefoot I've seem to become very intolerant of running in footwear. Not always, but most of the shod runs now (like in subfreezing temps) results in weird foot issues. Could be related to cold and muscle tightness too. I haven't ever tried a conventional running shoe again though, perhaps the problem wouldn't be as bad as the variety of minimalist shoes I've tried.

So I'd say I would certainly not give up running if I could run with good form and no issues with shoes. So far I can't though.
