So glad I don't bother anymore. All that electrical tape and everything....gravel trays have such a much better ROI.

I don't get it: Wearing tongs forces me to heel strike or else they will eventually fall of my feet. I suppose it would be possible to grip them between first and second toe, but this is a tiring and unnatural movement: normally my toes spread out instead of cramping together when the foot comes down...
How can one run with these?

There's a woman who has run lots of marathons in Crocs. Go figure that, right?! http://crocrunner.blogspot.com/2008/03/thanks-to-crocs-i-can-run-again.html

Hey, I tried to find the Ken Bob Thong, but no luck. :(

I'm surprised you don't already have one! :D
I had a picture of it from a long time ago, but I can't find it. It was the funniest thing. It was on a rotating ad of Zazzle products, and I think it was just random products that the software added his image to. I don't think he even realized it at the time...and I still don't know if he ever really saw it.

Well, as far as I've understood, she is a heel striker - and that was exactly my point: it's not possible to wear this kind of shoes which lack a heel strap and continue barefoot style running, which implies coming down on the fore- or mid foot.
I wasn't comparing footwear to barefoot or running styles. I was just sharing that there is a woman who runs marathons in Crocs.

Otherwise, of course, I agree with you.

Well, this is legendary finnish runner Paavo Nurmi, the flying finn.

Paavo Johannes Nurmi 13 June 1897 – 2 October 1973) was a Finnish middle- andlong-distance runner. He was nicknamed the "Flying Finn" as he dominated distance running in the early 20th century. Nurmi set 22 official world records at distances between 1500 metres and 20 kilometres, and won a total of nine gold and three silver medals in his twelve events in the Olympic Games. At his peak, Nurmi was undefeated at distances from 800 m upwards for 121 races. Throughout his 14-year career, he remained unbeaten in cross country events and the 10,000 m.
