I originally got into barefoot running because back in January I'd drunkenly signed up to do a 10k obstacle on 2nd August. Although I do a lot of bodyweight strength training I hadn't done any running since high school so I decided I'd better get some endurance training on board. I already had a pair of VFF's so I figured I'd run in them and having done some research on the internet I read that the quickest way to transition was to run barefoot so off I popped. After a few months of non-stop blisters on my feet and a couple of fairly sore calf muscles from landing too far forward on my foot I am now running 7k with no discomfort. I never did get round to putting my shoes back on though as the feeling of my naked feet flapping in the breeze was just too good to cage them again. Although sadly I am going to have wear some protection for the race in a couple of weeks. I’ve opted for the Vivo trail freak as the VFF’s felt horrible on my feet when I tried them on the other week and my xero clouds that I keep stuffed down the back of my shorts for those troublesome gravel patches may not take the amount mud on the course.
Anyway hello!:)
