What races do you have coming up or are you planning on doing?

Did a 5K yesterday, the first half mile was on a gravel horse racing track. That made it fun!
This coming Saturday I will do the Kalamazoo Klassic Pump & Run.
I'll do the max of thirty reps with ease, but I'm still pretty slow after this long cold Winter.
Good thing I'll get the full 15 minute reduction from the pump!

... June 8, I have a 1/2 Marathon in Philly. I don't believe I'll be challenging any of the leaders or even risking a PR. It'll just be a fun morning's run and not too bloody hot, I hope.

It went fine, and I finished vertical and healthy, not too hot, and I was happy to knock down a couple free beers afterward. Thank you Sly Fox Brewery! One day later I can report that I have no lasting soreness anywhere and that the worst of the discomfort was "chapping" of my nether region as a result of running nearly the whole 13 miles in wet shorts. My son, who handed out water at the finish line reported numerous guys with "tit blossoms" as he calls them - blood streaks on their shirt fronts from nipple chafing. I consider myself to have gotten off easy. Ugghhh! --- Bandaids work great to prevent!

I actually saw one BF runner! The first I've ever seen in an event, he was. Wow! Maybe 10 folks in VFFs, as I was.

For those who care, I ran a 2:03, 18th of 50 in my AG and 847th of about 2,850 total. Last year I did the same race about 3 minutes faster, but considering my lackluster training (longest training run ytd of 8 miles), this was a stellar result for me. The winner ran a 1:11.

Now I actually have NO events on my calendar. I will fix that soon.

Way to go JT! That's a pretty darned good time too, especially considering that you say your training wasn't the best. I'm pretty lucky myself in that I don't get the nipple chaffing unless I wear certain cotton shirts. I do get chaffing though in the nether regions periodically and I hear your pain on that. I figure though if that's the worst that happens then I have it pretty good too.

I've only got the Hershey Half Marathon (13.1 mi.) on my schedule for October (15 weeks away). I'm pretty sure the course is barefoot friendly, based on a video I saw of the course, so I am hoping to run a lot (if not all) of it barefoot, carrying huaraches just in case. I've been comfortable with 5-7 miles barefoot on pavement, but I just can't seem to get beyond that point. At the upper end of this distance, I start to either run into pain from the small bits of gravel on the road, or I start to get blisters as I tire and my form starts to break down. I am trying really hard to work out any form issues now so I can kick my training up a notch soon (i.e. start increasing distance while barefoot.)

Well its official I signed up for the Columbus Marathon in October. Will be my second marathon! I said earlier this year I wasnt going to race at all, just run comfortably, but I'm feeling like I'm in the swing of things now and I might. I also signed up for a half in August, that might be my test. I'll push myself a little and see how I feel after. All barefoot, of course. :barefoot:

I dont have nearly as good of schedule for training as I did last year, many times not even being able to run at all for 3 or 4 days at a time (when I work 14hr dayshifts). But the rest of the time I'm getting good runs in I think.
