What beer are you drinking tonight? For the new forum...

Dude. Hopworks is a staple in my fridge! The IPA rocks, and the pub lager is really good. If you want an ass kicking, try the survival 7 grain stout. Serious bidness.
This was my first time ever having a HUB beer and it surprised me at how good it was. I am not normally the biggest regular IPA drinker (I like my doubles/imperials) but wow, perfection for an IPA.

Ok so I cracked the double bastard and I absolutely love it. It ha a hint of an import German beer that I get occasionally when we go out to a German restaurant. My wife on the other hand hates it, absolutely repulsed by it. She's now even madder that I spent the money on it because SHE thinks it's nasty even though I'm the one drinking it and I love it. All I did was let her have a taste of it because I thought it was so good. Must just be one of those beers you either love or hate.

Havent seen that one yet Nick, but I love most all of thiers I've had so far!

Another note... my wife doesnt like hardly any beer unless its 'lite'. Even relatively mild lagers are out. Thats ok, no competition for me.

Since we were on the topic of Great Lakes lately... Rye of the Tiger - another favorite of mine - just hit the shelves. Not quite as good as Chillwave, but about half the price in a 12 pack! I think its slogan of 'This kitty has claws' is quite fitting... a bold IPA combined with the strong peppery spice of rye. Not what I would call smooth by any stretch, but if you like a punch of flavor check it out. 90% on BA, not too shabby, especially for more of a niche type beer.

Double bastard is great, I actually think it is more akin to a Belgian trippel or quadrupple than anything from Germany. Well I take that back I haven't gotten through too many German beers, they aren't easy to find here oddly enough. Last time I drank a 22oz bottle of it I remember being a bit tipsy.

It's just one particular German import that I like. I really liked it a lot though. Ya, at just over 11% it really can wallop you. I wish it wasn't seasonal and wasn't so expensive.

My wife hates my IPAs, but she likes the malty stuff I can't stand. No accounting for taste, opposites attract, and all that.

Thanks for the tip Tristan, I'll look for the Rye of the Tiger, despite the cheesy name.

Funny Lee, sounds like I may be like your wife in that. I am not typically big into regular ipa's. They tend to give me bitter beer face. There's maybe only a small handful of regular ipa's that I will drink. Doubles/imperials on the other hand with the higher malts and bitters seem more balanced to my palatte. Regular ipa's tend to really seem bitter to me, or have a hell of a bite. I also tend to really like the doubles/imperials with more of caramel flavor than a citrus flavor. Not really big on the citrus flavor in a lot of beer.

You know it. Tonight's answer was Maritime Pacific Flagship Red Ale. Still struggling to describe it, as it is completely off the page from the traditional PacNW red ales. The finish is almost Pilsner-sour like a lager, but I lurve it.

You should try ESBs. Ska makes a great one.

Last night I had Oakshires Perfect Storm Double IPA in the 22 ouncer. I really like this beer despite the slight citrus flavor. It really packed a punch, but assuming my eating better and lighter also helped that along as well... :)

I was at Costco yesterday and they had some great deals on cases of 24.
Bells Two Hearted, Oberon, a Sierra Nevada mix of four different IPA's (Torpedo, an All Day Sessionable, a black, and a Wit), a Goose Island mix of IPA, Pale, Wheat, and Sessionable IPA, and all kinds of other stuff. Buck a bottle and some even less, it's easy to get spoiled and want to limit yourself to whatever Costco has.
Man I'm getting old! One of the guys handing out food samples was in my high school class, and he does this out of boredom since he retired as an accountant for the school system after 30 years on the job! And he's been doing this for several years already! He talked me into buying some Kettle corn for our son's graduation party. Turned out my wife had already got suckered into the same product a few days earlier, I should have known to just stick with the beer.
