Good deal.

Hi LB. Just curious about Farra Rust, his title is a little odd - "former minimalist". Does this mean he is against barefoot and minimalist running? Did he change his footwear before or after Ultra running or was that the reason? Do you recall any of his comments? Thanks.

I'm sure it was all you, Mr. Board. :cigar:

It all comes down to running mechanics and form. You can run in high heels if needed. I never used to have a problem running in big bulky shoes, I just turned to barefoot running because it brought a new dimension to running, little did I know I would become addicted to it. I honestly think you can run in anything without issues, if you have proper form. So it's definitely not the shoes.

This is just my personal opinion which means nothing.

. . . the comment about never recommending barefoot running on hard surfaces to young folks because of cartilage damage go un challenged.

If anyone does/experiences it -- not cerebral -- empirical. :/

(As for your car, I went through similar years ago -- the negligent had nothing, so I ended up paying for the tow, storage for them to drag out totalling it, rental and lost my car, all out of my pocket. Walked away, thankfully, albeit stiff and in pain for months, but eventually healed. Accept small losses cheerfully -- they are a part of life -- they protect you from big ones.)

Yeah, I can visualize that as well, but I had already put in a full day at the office and was dealing with my attorneys and auto insurance companies and towing company etc. at the same time.
Just curious what insurance companies are involved. They always seem great at taking people's money, but some aren't so good at taking care of people.

I appreciate your viewpoint, and I agree that some folks can run perfectly fine in anything, as long as they run the "right" way, but in my case, I was damaged by shoes, and it had nothing to do with my form but the shoes themselves...Morton's Neuroma.

I agree.I should have left personal observation to myself rather than include it as an ad hominem attack. I think I'll edit. Thanks Jason.

Done, again, thanks Jason.

Sure, one can "run" wearing anything. However, from what I've gathered from various resources already posted in other threads, most shoes impede the proper biomechanical functioning of the foot.

Edit: Not that one can't run impeded or hindered, but I'd certainly rather not!
