So Friday I was driving home and my friend texted me that Great Lakes Christmas Ale was hitting the shelves that day (Nov 1st). I locked up the breaks and with tires squealing darted across 6 lanes to make the exit I was passing. Nah just kidding, but I did get off the very next exit of the highway and pulled into a store I thought would have it. Surely enough the guy was unloading the very first cart and stacking them in the center of the isle way. Most local stores have a 2 six pack limit, but Earth fare didn't so I picked up a few. This is one beer I'll buy more than a pack at a time. One 6er I'll leave in the cellar until summer this year. I was told it aged well, so I'll test that theory, and it would be a nice treat after not having it for many months.

Still, its my second favorite Christmas ale, my first favorite isn't out yet.

I took this picture last year, no tree up yet this year, but I thought it was appropriate and I didn't feel like getting the camera out.

one of my corner stores was still trying to sell last year's celebration 6-pack just last week!
I'll keep my I out for the case or 12 showing up at a discounter like they did last year.

Wassail's good stuff, though I prefer deschutes' Jubelale. Tonight's selection was Hopworks IPA. In a pounder (16 oz can). Gdm, I love the canned beer renaissance going on right now. It warms my southern redneck rooted heart.

Oh yeah I forgot about Jubelale! Yes that one is better. I like Wassail, it surprised me a little, kind of like a weak porter but very tasty. Not sure if it's case worthy, even though I have one.

Sounds good dutchie, I haven't seen that one from Stone yet.

Tried Bell's Christmas ale this weekend. OK but not like most Christmas ales in that are a darker beer and full of spices, its more like a pale ale to me. Also tried Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale. I liked it, even having it nearly at room temps was really good, brings out the richness and the spices (basement ~60-65 degrees).
