"What Should I Put on My Feet to Go Run?"
By John McClung
Illustrated by Laura Hollingsworth

This delightful story serves as a very useful teaching tool that will help our children think outside of the toe box, so to speak, of shod culture, a culture they confront virtually every day at school or day care, on the playground, and while hanging out with their friends in the yard. The watercolor illustrations are richly rendered, the rhymes roll off the tongue impeccably, and the message is clear without feeling dogmatic or pushy. The author plays on the homophones ‘bear’ and ‘bare’ to tickle children’s fancy, but they may also serve as a mnemonic for recalling the story’s message when discussing the barefoot option with peers or adults. Really, a perfect little book in every way.

Full Disclosure: I won this book on a BRS giveaway.
