Kicked off the week with an easy 3.1 miles this morning. Plan to run only between 25 to 30 miles this week and take a step back week after the previous 2 weeks. Legs felt pretty good except for the quads, which probably came because I did go kinda hard down a steep downhill at the nature preserve yesterday.

In the afternoon I did a nice 35km run along the river Lahn in the sunshine.
In the evening I joined the barefoot running team and we had 10km run with many hight meters.
I hope I can collect many great distances this week and enjoy the good weather.

This weekend I will have a 10km competition in Frankfurt (barefoot). It is going to be the first 10km competition without shoes. I would happy getting into the finish after 37 minutes. On Saturday I will join a Marathon near my hometown.

10.55 miles in my homemade sandals while pushing the baby girl in her stroller. I averaged a 10:37/mile pace. I messed with nutrition and hydration during the run by using a homemade energy/electrolyte replacement drink and found my cardio and legs were not my limiting factors, but my nutrition. And my footwear. My sandals were great till about the last mile when the strap between the toes became too much. Felt like I was running with broken pointer toes. Gotta get my other sandals redone but I need to have some free money that I can use to buy more soling material so I can widen the sandal just a touch. Oh, and I did about 2 miles today on a wide trail that I was able to go on with stroller. Oh man that was just awesome. Really beautiful. I took some pictures so I will download them in a bit so you all can see. Felt absolutely great for the majority of the run other than my toes from the sandal straps. My energy levels stayed up and my legs felt pretty good whole run.

Here's those pictures of my run for you all. The one picture where I am overlooking the river I was sitting on some sort of concrete burm thing, not sure what it was used for. The concrete was sloped at maybe a 70 degree angle and I was sitting at the top probably 20 feet up above the river. Wish you could capture angles better with phone cameras. Tough to do.

What is her name, anyway?

Weightlifting! Me and the angled squat machine are going to become best friends!!! Swimming later, though I will only be doing upper arm exercises for about 10 minutes. PT exercises after that, however, I seriously worked out my butt too much, doing them yesterday, so I need to skip a few tonight. :D I have decided that less, is more. :D

Bummer!
My body (and mind and soul) start to ache after only a day or two without some real workout. I"m an every day or never kind of a gal about most things, and exercise is no exception.
Get back to the ST while the toe is healing. Best not to land yourself in a swirling mess of lethargy.
Yah, exercise is nonnegotiable. Such a quality of life boost. I think I was a little vulnerable to the bug because my running has been so sporadic. It's been a while since I've had more than a passing, nearly asymptomatic head cold that I didn't take this bugger seriously at first, and now it's got legs. It's still lingering, due to lack of sleep.

But Sunday I walked a lot limping a bit in Minnehaha Park with the kids while my wife studied for her final exam in Anatomy and Physiology II. Before leaving I got in some mild bench pressing at about 75% 1RM x 5 x 4-5 (I like showing off my new-found ability to write meatheadese). Yesterday I was able to run home and do some alternating DB presses. I think I like those as much or better than barbell presses. It was raining, which motivate me to run. At first I was inverting my left foot to avoid putting pressure on the stubbed big toe joint, but after I warmed up, my landing was nearly normal I think. Ran a mile on it this morning too, and it feels OK. I'll keep at the one-mile run-commutes and then try something like 3-5 miles on Thursday. It was a pretty mild stubbing so it should be 100% by then. Will try to get in a good session of squats this afternoon. (Jen, careful with the machines, they're akin to stability shoes. Doesn't your gym have a squat rack?)

@Nick, great pics and it's great to see you running so well!

Ran 7.3 miles local roads...wore Sockwa G4's first shod run since late Dec 2012...ran a bunch of different speeds from 6min/mile to 13min/mile.

These shoes seem ok really not much to gripe about except they are hot for this time of year. I wont be running in these shoes again on the roads till winter. Will try a few trails in them though over the summer.

Are Sockwas waterproof?

30 minutes on treadmill in my vff speeds today (this is in addition to the 5 minutes earlier today). All at an avg Maf pace and mostly at 4% incline with some over that. Legs feel pretty good and I was happy with how they seem to have recovered from yesterday.

You know, I have decided that rotating through barefoot along with a VARIETY of minimalist shoes, is good "cross-training" for the foot/ankle muscles, so-to-speak.
