Mileage report 20th week 2014

Some racing today with my son out at my inlaws and playing tag with him. A lot of fun and great exercise too. I wish we had this much land to run on at our place. Amazing how well I can cut in my luna monos. I thought doing stuff like that in sandals would be near impossible as I didn't think the feet woul stay in them, but surprisingly my feet felt like they had a lot of grip in them. This would have been a different story had it been wet out I'm sure, but it's nice to know I can do that in them.

I dance on wood floors in my Lunas (when shoes are required) so I know they can cut!

13.1 miles. First 5 miles pretty rough asphalt, sections of rough mixed into the remaining miles estimated at a good 2 miles. Two other barefooters that I know of. One stopped to chat a bit and I told him about the forum. Didn't see any of them after the race. I was pretty mid-pack in all my results. Time 2:13:19. I will try to write a more thorough race report later. See comments when people run for the best comment of the race directed at me.

One mile.

Had a mild headache all day yester-day, but cold symptoms otherwise all but gone. Then slept almost nine hours, woke up OK, put on shorts for the first time, balmy 39F no windchill, heading for the river, then stubbed my toe after a mile!

Whatadork! I guess I was running too slow.

Nothing serious, but best wait to see how it is in an hour or two. I ran 10 miles on a bloody toe late November and it took weeks for it to return to normal. So will be a bit more preventative this time around. Hopefully it'll feel fine by afternoon and I'll get in that run down by the river after all. A whole week without exercise and I'm starting to atrophy into a couch potato--poor sleep, poor appetite, lethargic, and so on.

Bummer!
My body (and mind and soul) start to ache after only a day or two without some real workout. I"m an every day or never kind of a gal about most things, and exercise is no exception.
Get back to the ST while the toe is healing. Best not to land yourself in a swirling mess of lethargy.

wednesday: double dip: swim at lunch and in the evening.
thurs: 2.5 am, weights, then evening swim
friday: evening swim
saturday:
weights, then
late afternoon: about 1.5 mi hike w/ kids and friends.

evening bf run, guessing 3 mi. Happy lovely wonderful this time. square "trail" around a park where my kids were playing, I"m guessing half mile loops. Perfect pavement, smooth, just warmed enough, cool wind, sunshine.
That surface might be worth traveling to while I wait for sandals to arrive.

Nice 9 miler this morning at 5 am 66 deg. f., 78% rh .
Lots of rabbit sighting heard 4 roosters crowing along the way.
Last run of the week. Total miles 25

Is it just a matter of hearing the trains, or does it cause the whole house to shake?

Hearing them. Amtrak goes through and they lay on the horn whole way through town. Most of the trains only honk at each block, but not amtrak. They go fast as hell and just lay on the horn.

Oh, and on a side note, I think this August I may try a pretty tough trail 20k, and then next year instead of doing a 25k version of a race I been wanting to do, I just might attempt the 50k instead. Over 6000 ft of elevation gain. Race looks awesome. Pretty excited. Now lets just hope I can keep my training going well. Feeling really good and strong and if I can continue losing weight like I am I should be good to go.
