Should we incur this expense for mobile access?

I need to hear from as many of you as possible who use mobile devices to access the BRS's site if this is a true need and if it is worth the expense ($5/month)...with this software or something else that makes viewing and accessing easier.

(And I guess we won't even know if it can pick up the chapters until it's in place? Otherwise, for those of you who use Tapatalk but want access to your chapter, can you set it up so there are two BRS sites you access: BRS main and BRS chapters (can it work that way)?)

I have just started using mobile, so I don’t have too muh experience. However, it is getting more and more popular. We should probably be putting more emphasis on the mobile access than the desktop access.

My first post using Tapatalk. So I now need to figure out how to connect to my chapter?

So goMobi claims to have better viewing of heels?

As far as mobile access goes, there appears to be 2 methods: mobile browsing and Tapatalk.

IMHO, mobile browsers are best for reading and not for typing, especially if the site is not optimized for mobile. The problem is that when trying to enter text, one needs to resize the text entry window. Sometimes, this works fine, sometimes not so much and requires one to constantly zoom in and zoom out.

If Gomobi costs $5/month, please make sure that it has a good UI for posting.

For mobile, Tapatalk is far easier to use. I use Tapatalk and hardly ever visit the website. The text entry window is nicely sized. However, IMHO, the current version of Tapatalk is garbage due to a bad UI. I'm using an older version, 2.4.13. It still seems to be completely compatible with the forum.

The only downside to Tapatalk is that it can't access the Chapters easily. Only the main forums show up in Tapatalk. There is no option to select Chapters separately.

tapatalk doesn't have smiley faces either. i can't remember but there is another downside to it so i don't use it anymore.

I wouldn't say "more" emphasis, but yes, my opinion is that we need to make sure our site is accessible to cellular devices just as well.

There are some other threads in this forum that will help explain what is going on with Tapatalk's access to our site. But basically, think of it as two separate sites, the main and the chapters, designed by different groups. The chapters, apparently, weren't written to Tapatalk mobile access specifications? You can access the chapters without using Tapatalk though. (I will ask our developer to chime in and give his recommendation on mobile access apps as well.)

I am installing Tapatalk on my hubby's smart phone, since I don't have one, and I am having the hardest time! sigh!

Okay, I have it installed now. Why didn't it ask me for my credit card number? I thought it cost $1.99.

Anywho, I see what you all see. It's not that great, is it? I won't be able to fully use it like you all do, so tell me if it is that much better than accessing the site through regular means on a mobile device.

I noticed that we weren't listed among the main categories. How can we get listed there? Anyone want to make that happen?

I'll ask Jonathan if this is something we can get.

I don't get smileys or formatting options when I am on the iPad.

I don't understand.

Just my observation based on the picture ad you posted:

Jonathan responded:

A responsive mobile website will be an option when we upgrade you to XenForo 1.2. (which we've already paid for, but are awaiting more programming)
I will try and find out if there is any way to get chapters to work on Tapatalk.
In my opinion, these are the best two options available.
