Okay, it's not hiking, but I'll post it here anyway!
I went canoeing with a friend of mine at Presque Isle State Park (Pennsylvania) last weekend. We usually get out in his canoe a few times a year, but this may be the first time we've done it in December. (Usually the water is frozen by now!) Air temperature was about 45F and water temp is about 42F. We were out for about 4 hours and I stayed barefoot the whole time, as usual. My friend was in heavy socks and waterproof boots.
What a great way to spend a December afternoon!
Here's a few photos:

Canoeing is a lot of fun, very tranquil.

Wow, not sure if I would be able to do that or not. I've been BF out in that temperature plenty of times, but I'm always moving. Sitting in a boat with my feet not moving very much, not sure if I could do it.

Admittedly, my feet felt pretty cold toward the end of the day, but not to the point that it was unbearable. It helped that there was very little wind, although if the sun had been out it would have been much better!
