VFF Run- Rock Creek

Had a great run in the rain again today. Was not sure how my legs were going to hold up today. I have had a rough time of late with my right leg cramping while transitioning to minimal running. I have had so much fun watching my progress, and listening to my body to minimize injury. Today seemed like a break through. I ran uphill for 1.5, running slow, but methodical. I ended up loggin in 3.41 miles in 40 mins. I felt going up a dirt/rock road was perfect, and the inclide was gradual, but gentle. Coming down felt like I was working different muscles, and felt like my calves were given a break. I am pretty tired right now, but feel loading up with electrolytes before/after the run was the ticket. Actually my best run since the start of the year with or without shoes.

Here is my workout log. Hopefully I will be able to run the upcoming 15k in my backwoods on the 23rd. Any suggestions on making it a reality? What should I focus on. I am currently building my miles up, but am worried that 9 miles will kill my feet. The run on single track, and has big elevation gain. Here is a post of it.

How about just setting a goal to finish; no matter how, cross that finish line. Don't think about how long it will take, what your pace time will be, who else is on the course, just concentrate on finishing...even if it means walking. Good luck! -TJ

Yeah, sounds like a good goal. I hit another 3 miles today, and feel pretty good. The race has over 1200 vertical gain, so I tried a mini run in the same area, managed 500 feet differential. Felt pretty good. I guess I have 3 or four more weeks, and I know I can cover that ground, running or walking, but would like to make it in good form, and minimal pain.
