lovely inclement weather run

After the amazing weather we had all week (mid to high 70s), last night it snowed! I'm not a fan of cold weather but once the snow melted it was gorgeously cloudy and wet outside and the first thing on my mind was PUDDLES!!! =) I headed out for a run wearing my vibrams for the fist time. I set out on an adventurous route, the longest I have ever run up here by my house (in the mountains). It was actually snowing a bit when I set out but not cold enough for it to stay.

It's a lot longer when I'm running with my own feet rather than galloping a horse! I had so much fun in the puddles, as planned and I eventually took the VFFs off to splash through mud. This route will definitely be hard to run in the future without the vibrams because I'm not a fan of chipsealed roads, cacti, and goathead thorns. But oh, it was so much fun! By the end I had a hugge uphill stretch so I kind of walked and moaned because by that time I was pretty tired - I haven't been running so much lately. It was about 5 miles, but running map/map my run doesn't have the streets labelled correctly so I had to do it using the satellite view. Hopefully it was correct. ;)

Running was never so enjoyable with shoes on... even though I don't consider vibrams to be "barefoot", it's close enough.

Now it's hailing/snowing again... glad I took that window of opportunity for such a nice run! :)

+1 Jamie! I love running puddles and am a firm believer that VFFs have their place.

My last run, very tame compared to your beautiful country, had 3 or 4 ankle deep splashers. Just a joy! So much better than recently with the ice and miserable chunky snow.

I like my BF and VFF for trail races with water hazards, too. Splish splash and I'm through and nearly dry, while the shodders must be carrying and extra pound on each foot

It's also really good for the soul to get out and run in inclement weather dispite the urge to hunker in the bunker.

Good for you!
