Finding a Body while running... Almost happened to me once

A while back when running trails with a couple for friends I saw a car parked in the middle of no where with way too much snow on it. I told my friends that this wasn't good, and I bet its stolen or there is a dead body nearby. Little did I know that a couple hours later when my buddies ran by the car, it was being towed away and a body van was there with some State Police vehicles. The story that hit the news that night was of a lady who was found just a few feet off the trail where we were going to run but didn't. The trail crossing where we found the car now is very memorable, but little did I know that this is a national problem.

Here is an article written a few years ago on this very subject: Nations Joggers sick of finding dead bodies: The Onion

I do not just sit around thinking about things like this. One of my favorite Bloggers: Scott Dunlap had a similar event happen to him lately and he wrote about it on his blog: A Trail Runner's Blog- Check it out

Have you ever found anything interesting while running?

I live in the high desert in NM. One day I this last spring was out running BF with a pit bull mix (resuce). We have wild horses in the area and our local band were very interested in the "small horse" that was tethered to a rope around my waist. At first I was intrigued by their curiousity, then I felt a little vulnerable as they started to nicker and mill around us. It took considerable arm flapping and noise making to re-establish a little personal space.

Little did I know, but one of the mares was off in the juniper bushes having her foal at the very time I ran into the rest of the expectant family. I can only guess that the excitement of a new baby made them want to check out the dog.
