Fall running in the woods.

Rainy weather has started here in Portland and temps are starting to drop. Yesterday as I was driving my kids to school we rounded a corner and saw Mount Hood cloaked in white for the first time. I'm not a snowboarder yet but it was calling out to be enjoyed, kind of like a perfect wave that doesn't go any where.

Been trying to shake some knee pain so the mileage has been way down. I keep telling myself that I'm not going to run so I can heal 100% but after a couple days I break down and am out running and smiling again.

I'm taking the time to work on my pads by running on a wet fireroad with plenty of gravel. Seems amazing how much harder on the feet wet, cold ground is. After just a half hour run this morning my pads are tender which is a feeling I'm enjoying.

when the ground is wet an cold like you said. I went out for a rainy run a week ago, and it seemed like my feet were afraid of the ground or something. I had to be much more careful about my form. I didn't end up with any problems, except for one blood blister (no idea where it came from, it just showed up half way through the run), but I sure thought something bad was gonna happen. I do miss Portland (I lived there for the first 4 years of my life, before moving down here to New Mexico.)

Danjo, I didn't know you were from up here. NM must be a pretty cool place if you can avoid the sharp things the desert has to offer. I know what you mean about feet being afraid of the ground. It's cool though because it feels like it's notching up the toughness factor. Once rainy and cold will become comfortable, everything else will be butter.

Thanks for reading Eireen. I completely agree with what you said about needing to "build a happy life." If we could only just keep that in mind all the time!
