I think I'm ready to start posting again. I made the 5k distance on BF this morning. I even made it half the way back. Shod I was able to go as far as I cared to go. Now, BF is just like starting all over from scratch. This is starting into my 3rd year as a BR and I feel like I'm standing in the Middle of the Road looking on. I love the experience of barefoot running. It adds a dimension that just changes everything.
I hope to repeat everything I've done as a shod runner. We will have to wait and see how that goes.
I run north through the country on what has become mostly blacktop roads. When I started out there, they were gravel. Interestingly enough, after I started running barefoot, they resurfaced in chip seal that is the sharpest rocks they make. Two miles out the surface goes back to the tar and gravel that has had plenty of time to grow smooth. At 3.5 miles in went back to chip seal.
That is 5001 Locust Grove Church Road. For 10 years I've used that driveway to run to training for 5k's. I made it there today, barefoot. I feel now as though I have a view forward.
